The Revolutionaires
www.revolutionaires.co.uk
(Ed Stephenson, guitar &
lead vocals - Rich Stephenson, double bass & backing vocals
- Gary Hoole, saxaphone & backing vocals -
Mark Matthews, drums & backing vocals)
A fine R&B band
producing a tremendous set of 50’s and 60’s R&B full of Chuck
Berry riffs which came through again and again. Absolutely
Fabulous was their version of Riot in Cell Block No 9 which had
everybody on their feet to boogie. So it went on, pure R&B with
a well deserved encore – Blue Suede Shoes. Lead vocalist Ed
Stephenson was outstanding; playing harp on Eddy Boy Jump, piano
on Jump for Joy, Been a Long Time and Boogie, and lead guitar on
everything else - just amazing! After the gig Ed briefly
told us how influential Chuck Berry, Little Richard and Louis
Jordan had been in his informative years and took time to
translate his shorthand set list into English. Most appreciated
Ed. |

Slowburner
www.slowburner.co.uk
(Paul Bridgwater, vocals - Rob Newell, bass guitar - Mike
Bannister, guitar - Izzy The Push, drums
standing in for Colin Edmonds who was unable to
be with us on the night)
Saving the day as a
late replacement for the now defunct Revelator Band, Slowburner
again turned it on for all lovers of Blues-Rock. With a set
mainly from the One Trick Pony CD the whole festival rocked
along when, for a few memorable minutes, Paul Bridgewater
thumped into Stormy Monday and a silenced crowd looked on in
sheer admiration as this blues classic unfolded; so good it
lingered with us as one of the highlights of the festival. |
