Michael Roach Workshop |
www.michaelroach.com |
Michael Roach's workshop was an
interactive performance that traced the beginnings of blues from work
songs to modern rap/hip-hop. Demonstrations involved audience
participation in hand clapping and hand patting games that demonstrated
rhythm and rhyme. There would have been a visual display consisting of
an old wind up victrola, blues 78s, sheet music and 1920s blues adverts
- but the floods meant Michael came to Upton direct from a gig in
Lincoln - overnight - and he couldn't get home to pick up the material.
Thanks, Michael (and for your band) for your efforts in getting to Upton. It was greatly appreciated. |

I wasn't able to see Groovyhead - they were
playing at The Muggery Pub and it was so packed I couldn't get in to
take any photos. So here is a biography and two photos from the band. |
