Jeff Chapman's
Roosters
Maryport Bitter and Blues Festival 2005
Saturday 30th
July 2005
The Roosters are one of the few
bands on the live music circuit still playing tough rocking R & B for which
South Essex was hugely famous back in the seventies. Their set of no nonsense,
’in yer face’ pub rhythm and blues classics take you back to where and why you
started to go out and watch live bands. As firm favourites around the pub, club
and festival circuit both here and on the continent, the band has shared the
bill with many top acts including Dr Feelgood, Stan Webb’s Chicken Shack, The
Groundhogs, Wilko Johnson and The Hamsters. Their CDs regularly receive airplay
on Blues and Rock radio across Europe. Jeff Chapman on Guitar and Vocals played
in the early days of British R & B with original guitar hero Wiko Johnson. Using
his trademark high energy style, he has been fronting The Roosters since 1987.
Al E Bye on harmonica, has gigged extensively with A.M.5 over the last 10 years.
On Bass Guitar, ex Groundhogs player, L.J. has enjoyed stints with Alison Moyet
and pre Roosters outfit "The Chicago Bearcats" the popular jump jive band of the
early 80s, who recorded with Blues label Red Lightnin’ Records. Completing the
line-up is extrovert, punchy rock drummer Animal who plays what is considered to
be one of the most entertaining, energetic drum solos around the circuit,
definitely not to be missed.
