Thorbjørn Risager
and his band came out of the local Copenhagen blues scene.
Their charismatic vocalist Thorbjørn Risager has earned a
reputation as one of Denmark's best singer/songwriters, with
an exceptional bluesy and soulful voice. At the Copenhagen
Blues Festival 2005 Thorbjørn was awarded “Blues Artist of
the year”. A large proportion of the band's repertoire is
classic, New Orleans flavoured 1950's and 60's R&B -
although most of it is written by Thorbjørn, alone or with
other members of the band. The band’s second CD, 'FROM THE
HEART' was released in 2006 and third CD 'HERE I AM' was
released in 2007.
Burnley National
Blues Festival was the band's first time in the UK, and it
won't be the last! They were well received,
providing an excellent start to the festival. Watch out for
future gigs and try to see them if you can - alternatively
buy their latest CD - excellent.
