US Concert & Festival Reviews
Welcome to the new Unites States concerts and
festivals review section of earlyblues.com. Over time we hope to include
many reviews and photographs of blues concerts and festivals in the USA
- a little tricky as we are based in England, but with the help of our
US based contributor,
Kirk Lang, our UK based friend Pete
Evans, plus our own regular trips over the 'pond',
we will endeavour to bring you a selection of the vast number of blues
events in the States.

A big voice blessed a

Taj Mahal Concert Review - Feb 19,2011
-
review by Kirk Lang with
photos by Vivian Derouin and Kirk
Lang
While Mahal can at times sound like he came straight from the
Mississippi Delta, he is also heavily influenced by the music of
the Caribbean, Latin America, West Africa and Hawaii.

BB King Concert Review - Jan 5, 2011
- review and photos by
Kirk Lang
B.B. may be in the twilight of his career, but he showed in
Bridgeport - the second stop on his North American tour - that
he still has a powerful voice as well as the ability to make
“Lucille,” his beloved Gibson guitar, sing as good as she always
has. |

Hubert Sumlin and The Nighthawks Concert
Review - Dec 17, 2010
- review and photos by Kirk Lang
The 79-year-old Sumlin ..... had some assistance as he walked to
his chair at stage left, but once he settled down and put his
guitar over his neck, it was like he was a young man again. He
has fingers that are meant to play the guitar and they move
effortlessly around the fretboard ..... |

Arkansas Blues & Heritage Festival 2010
- review and photos by Pete Evans
Before headliner BB King and his band took to the stage he was
presented with the Sonny Boy Award for services to the blues and
then to the great surprise of all present, a giant banner was
carried on stage and at the given moment revealed the legend
“The Biscuit is back – thank you Bill Sagan and Wolfgang’s
Vault.” ..... |
