The John Jorgenson Quartet

Fronted by 2009 Grammy Award-winning guitarist John Jorgenson, the Quartet also features renowned LA-based Jeff Ross on keyboards and Jason Smith on drums, plus Glasgow's own Alan Thomson on bass, long time musical associate of the late, great John Martyn.

Jorgenson is best known as a founding member of both the Desert Rose Band with Chris Hillman (The Byrds) , and the guitarist's dream band The Hellecasters, as well as his tenure touring with Elton John and huge session career (Bonnie Raitt, Bob Seger, Johnny Cash, etc). With this Quartet Jorgenson is free to exercise his abundant chops on a variety of material from his eclectic past and his own compositions (which have been recorded by Peter Frampton and Tommy Emmanuel) so the audience is in for a great set of high-energy music performed by musicians who are at the top of their game.

John Jorgenson is also one of the pioneers of the current revival of interest in the music created by 30's French guitarist Django Reinhardt, whom he played in the 2004 film ‘Head in the Clouds’. The JOHN JORGENSEN GYPSY TRIO will feature on the Acoustic Stage and this Trio format will be a special performance featuring noted UK guitarist and long-time friend Andy MacKenzie on rhythm guitar and Ken Marley on bass, allowing for a chance to hear Jorgenson in a more acoustic and intimate setting, featuring jazz standards mixed in with Jorgenson's accessible compositions.
