Bowness Bay Blues - a resounding success
"A stunning lakeside setting and a selection of
top-of-the-range blues performers again proved
to be a winning combination for festivalgoers at
this year's Bowness Bay Blues. Comments from
visitors included: 'My new favourite blues fest.
Fabulous weekend. I've booked our accommodation
for next year' and 'A great weekend all round'.
Appearing at eight different venues, a total of
14 bands played a wide range of music, from
acoustic to Chicago-style blues; from gospel,
soul and funk to electric blues-rock. Many local
hotels, pubs and restaurants enjoyed increased
trade, thanks to the festival.
Organised by the Rotary Club of Windermere, this
annual festival, held on the weekend before
Easter, is a 'feel-good event' in more ways than
one. This year, thanks to generous donations
from festivalgoers, more than £6000 was raised
for charity and the main beneficiaries are the
Alzheimer's Society and the Multiple Sclerosis
Society".
